Nildo Silva Viana (Goiânia, May 6, 1965) is a Brazilian sociologist and philosopher.
Degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Goiás (1992), a Masters in Philosophy from the Federal University of Goiás (1995) and in Sociology from the University of Brasilia (1999) and Doctor in Sociology from the University of Brasilia (2003). He is currently a professor at the Federal University of Goiás.
His work covers some basic subjects such as sociology, philosophy, Marxism, contemporary society, epistemology, violence, neo-liberalism, values, art, psychology, everyday representations, psychoanalysis, self-management. Representative of a critical current of sociology, the humanities, philosophy and contemporary political thought, Marxist orientation, a libertarian version of Marxism. Karl Marx and Karl Korsch are the main influences on his thought. His texts are based on a Marxist analysis of society, emphasizing the category of totality and the class struggle as the key features heuristic for research engaged in the process of social transformation.

From the late 1990s he began to publish his first books, and are now being reissued, especially History of Consciousness, 1997 Methodological and writings of Marx, 1998.
